The No. 6 seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish against the No. 2 seed Vanderbilt Commodores in a Sweet Sixteen match up in the 2026 NCAA Tournament this afternoon.
Vanderbilt (29-4) hasn’t been this far since 2009, while the Fighting Irish (24-10) are coming off an upset of No. 3 seed Ohio State. It is now five seasons in-a-row for Notre Dame making it this far in the tournament, so making it to the second weekend isn’t anything new.
Notre Dame is 4-1 all-time against Vanderbilt, but this Commodores team was 7th in NCAA Net rankings coming into the tournament. This one is likely to be a hard-fought battle.
