Vanderbilt women’s basketball will officially be hosting NCAA tournament games at Memorial Gymnasium as a No. 4 seed, the selection committee announced March 14.
The teams were announced in alphabetical order, so the exact seed will not be known until the selection show March 15 (7 p.m. CT, ESPN).
However, the Commodores (27-4) are widely projected as a No. 2 seed. Vanderbilt finished tied for second in the SEC at 13-3 and beat several other teams potentially on the 2-seed line, including Michigan, LSU and Texas. But the Commodores also lost to Ole Miss twice, including a blowout in the SEC tournament quarterfinals.
The games at Vanderbilt will be either March 20 and 22 or March 21 and 23.
Hosts will remain home for the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament before advancing to one of two sites for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight. This year, those sites are Sacramento and Fort Worth.
Vanderbilt swept the three major SEC awards with SEC Player of the Year and national scoring leader Mikayla Blakes, SEC Freshman of the Year Aubrey Galvan and SEC Coach of the Year Shea Ralph.
