Vanderbilt women’s basketball has had its game time set for its Sweet 16 game against No. 6 Notre Dame.
The No. 2 seed Commodores (29-4), who are in the Fort Worth 1 Regional, will face the Fighting Irish after advancing in the Women’s NCAA Tournament with a second-round 75-57 win over Illinois at Memorial Gymnasium on March 23.
It is the first time Vanderbilt has reached the Sweet 16 since 2009. The game will be at 1:30 p.m. CT March 27 (ESPN) at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
No. 1 overall seed UConn will face No. 4 North Carolina in the second game.
Notre Dame (24-10) defeated No. 3 Ohio State 83-73 in their second-round game in Columbus, Ohio.
Vanderbilt is in the same region as UConn, and Mikayla Blakes and Sarah Strong are the top contenders for major National Player of the Year awards. Commodores coach Shea Ralph played at UConn and was an assistant coach there.
