Only hours after landing its first reported transfer portal commitment of 2026, the Vanderbilt men’s basketball team gained a second late Friday night.
Former Washington State guard Ace Glass III, who averaged 16.4 points at Washington State during the 2025-26 season, is headed to Music City, per On3.
That news came on the of heels former Nebraska forward Berke Buyuktuncel transferring to Vanderbilt. The 6-10, 244-pound Buyuktuncel, who has one year of eligibility remaining, averaged 6.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Cornhuskers, who went 28-7 this season and eliminated Vandy from the NCAA Tournament.
The 6-3 Glass, a California native, should help offset the loss of productive guard Duke Miles, who averaged 16.1 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in his lone season at Vanderbilt.
Glass put up similar numbers for the Wildcats as a freshman this season, averaging 16.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. The 19-year-old shot 45.5 percent from the field overall and 36.4 percent from three-point range, making 71-of-195 shots from beyond the arc.
Ranked as high as No. 14 nationally among combo guards while in high school, the four-star prospect wasted no time in making an impact at Washington State.
Glass broke the WSU freshman single-game scoring record by totaling 40 points, the single-season scoring record (with 525 points), the 3-point record (with 71), and the free throw percentage record (.882).
He produced 40 points against Arizona State on Nov. 25 in the Maui Invitational semifinals, becoming the first underclassmen in the country to hit that mark during the 2025-26 season.
Glass scored in double figures 27 times and led the Cougars in scoring 15 times.
The Commodores still have plenty of holes to fill.
In addition to Miles, forward Tyler Nickel (13.5 points in 2025-26), forward Devin McGlockton (9.5 points, 6.8 rebounds) and forward Jalen Washington (8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds) are out of eligibility.
Forward AK Okereke (9.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists) may be in the same boat, as he’ll need a waiver to obtain another year of eligibility.
In addition, five Vandy players entered the transfer portal, with guard Mike James committing to South Florida and guard Jaylon Dean-Vines committing to McNeese State. Forward Tyler Harris, guard Frankie Collins and guard George Kimble III have not yet committed to new schools.
It’s also possible that superstar guard Tyler Tanner might head to the NBA, after the Brentwood native averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds as a sophomore in 2025-26.
The only definite returnees — at this point — are guard Chandler Bing (3.6 points, 1.6 rebounds this season) and center Jayden Leverett (1.0 points, 1.2 rebounds). The Commodores are expected to add three incoming freshmen in point guard Baylor Allen, guard Ethan Mgbako and center Jackson Sheffield.
