Mikayla Blakes and No. 5 Vanderbilt women’s basketball will conclude its regular season against in-state SEC rival Tennessee on Sunday, March 1 at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville, a place the Commodores have won just one time.
The Commodores (26-3, 12-3 SEC) concluded their first undefeated home regular season in program history with an 85-60 win over Alabama at Memorial Gymnasium on Feb. 26. Blakes scored 35 points, and Sacha Washington had 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in that game.
The Lady Vols (16-11, 8-7) have lost five in a row, most recently 100-93 against Oklahoma. Talaysia Cooper led the Lady Vols with 22 points, to go along with four assists, three rebounds and two steals in that game.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season before the SEC Tournament begins March 4 in Greenville, South Carolina.
