Vanderbilt sophomore Mikayla Blakes has been selected to the USA Basketball 3×3 women's development camp and will participate in the 2026 USA Basketball 3X Women's Showcase
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Vanderbilt women’s basketball All-American Mikayla Blakes has been selected for the 2026 USA Basketball 3×3 women’s development camp and will participate in the 2026 USA Basketball 3X Women’s Showcase this weekend.
The USA Basketball 3×3 women’s development camp will be held May 6-8 in Phoenix, Arizona. Development camps are an opportunity for athletes to hone their skills in a competitive and educational environment. The camp is highlighted by under-23 women’s athletes, as Blakes is one of four players with previous USA Basketball experience.
Immediately following the development camp, Blakes will participate in the 2026 USA Basketball 3X Women’s Showcase on May 9-10 in Mesa, Arizona. The guard is one of nine players participating in both the development camp and showcase this week. The Vanderbilt guard will play on a team with other players who will participate in the development camp, while five other NCAA Division I teams will have players compete in the showcase.
Both the 3×3 development camp and 3X Showcase serve as an evaluation for selection to future USA Basketball 3×3 national teams and other opportunities.
This will be Blakes’ latest run with the stars and stripes. The Somerset, New Jersey, native recently participated in Team USA Women’s National Team training camp in early April, where she was just one of two active collegiate players in attendance. Blakes was named the 2025 Team USA Women’s 5×5 Player of the Year after helping her home country win gold at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. She also participated in the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals last year with Team Vanderbilt.
Blakes is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw her earn consensus first-team All-American honors. The sophomore guard averaged 27.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 steals per game. Her 27.0 points per game led NCAA Division I in scoring and set the Vanderbilt single-season scoring record. Her 918 points are the most scored in a season in SEC history during the NCAA era. She also set the NCAA’s all-time sophomore scoring record. Blakes had 13 games with 30 or more points, which led the nation and is the most 30-point performances by an SEC player this century.
The sophomore was named the 2025-26 SEC Player of the Year and won the 2026 Anne Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year as part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Starting Five awards. Additionally, she was a finalist for the Wooden Award, the Honda Award, Naismith Trophy Player of the Year and the Wade Trophy.
