LSU football defeated South Carolina 20-10 on Saturday. A few players missed the game or exited due to injury.
“I think we’ve got good news on all of the injuries,” LSU head coach Brian Kelly told the media on Monday.
Here’s a look at the injury report for Week 8 ahead of the Vanderbilt game:
Bernard Gooden exited the game with his pads off on Saturday, and after further testing, Kelly said he has a bruised collarbone.
“He’s very sore right now; clean, no break,” Kelly said. “So this is a short-time thing and he’ll have to manage the pain relative to how we go through the week.”
Jimari Butler went down early in the game with an apparent ankle injury. After further testing, Kelly confirmed it’s an ankle injury, and said it’s a lateral injury and not in the higher part.
“I would say that he’s probable,” Kelly said.
Aaron Anderson went into the South Carolina game listed as questionable due to a knee injury sustained versus Ole Miss. He warmed up in full pads, but ran out of the tunnel in street clothes.
“[He] looked good, and we’ll continue to progress with him,” Kelly said.
Caden Durham missed the Ole Miss game due to an ankle injury, but he had overcome it and played on Saturday. During the South Carolina game, he suffered a mild hip pointer injury.
“That affected him a little bit,” Kelly said. “He’ll be fine.”
Braelin Moore suffered a stinger on Saturday.
“[It’s] under control,” Kelly said. “We took an MRI, it looked good.”
Paul Mubenga sat out Saturday with a high ankle sprain after being reported as doubtful almost all week leading up to the game. Kelly thinks Mubenga is making progress this week.
“We expect him to be available this week,” Kelly said.
Nussmeier is dealing with a slight ankle sprain, Kelly said it’s medial and not high.
As for the ab injury from earlier in the season, Nussmeier’s deep shots looked more comfortable and his passes had a lot more zip on them.
“He didn’t feel any pain on Sunday coming in,” Kelly said. “He’s on the right side of his ab injury.”
Weeks saw a slightly lessened role on Saturday as he was sore from his wrist injury in the game versus Ole Miss.
