Ohio State has added another Power Four opponent to its schedule for the 2026-27 men’s basketball season, with the first game of a home-and-home series against Vanderbilt being scheduled between the two teams.
The Buckeyes will host the first of the two games on Nov. 24 this year, according to Rocco Miller of The Field of 68. They will go on the road to Nashville, Tenn., during the 2027-28 season for the back half of the series against the Commodores.
Head coach Jake Diebler hinted earlier this month that he was trying to get another game scheduled against a tough opponent, hoping to get Ohio State prepared for the Big Ten schedule with some strong opponents in the nonconference.
“Our program belongs on the biggest stage, and to do that you have to play other programs who are on that stage,” Diebler said. “And you’ve got to get ready for Big Ten play. That’s the bulk of your schedule, and if you roll into Big Ten play without challenging and pushing yourself and facing some adversity early, you’re not setting your team up to be successful.”
As of now, the Buckeyes are set to open the 2026-27 season against BYU in Salt Lake City, Utah. They will also go on the road to UConn for the first game of another home-and-home series on Nov. 13, will play the latter half of a home-and-home against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., and also match up with Kansas on Dec. 19 in the CBS Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden.
