Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball has received its first commitment of this offseason’s NCAA Transfer Portal cycle, as former Nebraska forward Berke Buyuktuncel has signed with the ‘Dores, per Pete Nakos of On3.

Buyuktuncel, a 6’10 forward hailing from Bursa, Türkiye, will add some depth to Vanderbilt’s frontcourt room ahead of the 2026-27 season. The junior averaged 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game this past season with the Cornhuskers, notably dropping 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting against the ‘Dores in this year’s Round of 32 matchup. His best performance of the season came back on Dec. 21 against North Dakota, when he put up 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in just 27 minutes — a highly efficient triple double.
Head coach Mark Byington is very familiar with Buyuktuncel’s game after seeing him play at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City just a few weeks ago. The Turkish forward spent his first season at UCLA before playing his second and third years at Nebraska. He will bring size, experience and talent to Vanderbilt for his senior season.
