Luke Babin, a three-star quarterback in the Class of 2027, has decommitted from Vanderbilt, according to a report from On3.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Babin committed to the Commodores on Sept. 24, becoming the first commit in coach Clark Lea’s 2027 recruiting class.
Babin is from Woodville, Texas, and is the No. 28-ranked quarterback in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite, with offers from Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech and more.
During his junior season, Babin completed 179-of-284 passes for 3,063 yards with 40 touchdowns and five interceptions, while also rushing for 562 yards and seven touchdowns.
As a sophomore, Babin led Woodville to the Class 3A-II state championship game, passing for more than 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Vanderbilt currently has four quarterbacks on its roster with Heisman Trophy finalist Diego Pavia now set for the NFL Draft. The most notable of which is the former No. 1-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2026 Jared Curtis, who flipped from Georgia to Vanderbilt on Dec. 2, becoming highest ranked recruit in Vanderbilt football history.
Curtis was an early enrollee at Vanderbilt and began practicing with the team ahead of its appearance in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Iowa on Dec. 31.
In 2025, Curtis led Nashville Christian to a second consecutive TSSAA football state title in Division II-A, passing for 2,073 yards with 36 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 614 yards and 11 scores. He won back-to-back DII-A Mr. Football and Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year awards to close his high school career
