BATON ROUGE — LSU athletics officially announced its partnership with Woodside Energy Monday morning as its jersey patch sponsor beginning for the 2026-27 season.
The two entered into a multi-year deal facilitated by Playfly Sports, LSU’s official multimedia rights holder, and LSU categorizes the partnership as a “first-of-its-kind.”
A purple and gold designed logo patch of the oil company will be featured on the all 21 LSU sports teams’ competition as well as practice jerseys. Woodside Energy, per the deal, will also have prominent signage at all athletic venues as well as various marketing assets across all LSU sports channels.
“This partnership with Woodside Energy represents a transformational moment for LSU athletics and speaks to the trajectory of college sports,” LSU Deputy Director of Athletics Clay Harris said in a school release.
LSU’s deal with Woodside Energy was officially made possible last month when the NCAA lent approval for universities to seek out partnerships with companies for commercial ad space on competition uniforms. It’s another revenue generating avenue for athletic departments. LSU has had a deal with Woodside Energy lined up for a some time now, it was just waiting on the NCAA to change the rule to allow for it.
There were Woodside Energy patches on LSU football’s practice jerseys this past football season.
Woodside Energy is an Australian-based energy company that in the midst of building a $17.5 billion liquefied natural gas facility in Sulphur, Louisiana.
