Vanderbilt basketball scorekeeper Warren Phillips didn’t just do things by the book.
Phillips, who spent 29 years as the official scorekeeper for Commodores basketball games, wrote the book.
The Battle Ground Academy and Middle Tennessee State graduate died Aug. 25. He was 65.
Phillips was born May 3, 1961 in Nashville.
During his 29 years as a scorekeeper for Vanderbilt, Warren scored six SEC tournaments, three NCAA tournaments and three Ohio Valley Conference finals.
When he wasn’t scoring basketball games for Vanderbilt, Warren spent his professional working life doing such jobs as safety director for a construction company, a construction engineer, executive vice president of an insurance agency and a bond specialist for an insurance company.
Visitation with the family on Sept. 1 from 10-11 a.m. at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:15 a.m.
