“If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.”
It’s one of the oldest sayings in sports, but Jan Jensen and the Iowa women’s basketball program are taking it very seriously as they finalize their 2026-27 schedule.
Another piece of the puzzle was revealed Tuesday, as Iowa announced on social media that it would play a non-conference showdown against Vanderbilt on Nov. 15. The contest will take place on a neutral floor at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT.
After going 27-7 and earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament last year, the Hawkeyes continue to schedule big in the non-conference for this upcoming season. Vanderbilt went 29-5 and reached the Sweet 16 last year, and Iowa is already traveling to UConn for the first game of a home-and-home series this year.
It’s also worth noting that this game against Vanderbilt will take place on the same day as Iowa men’s basketball’s showdown against Creighton in Des Moines, so start making your plans.
2026-27 Iowa women’s basketball non-conference schedule so far:
Nov. 8 – at UConn (Storrs or Hartford)
Nov. 15 – vs. Vanderbilt
TBD: vs. Iowa State, vs. Northern Iowa, at Drake
