The Iowa Hawkeyes are going bowling, and they will be heading back to a usual spot this year for their bowl game. The Iowa Hawkeyes will be headed to Tampa, Florida, a place they have become an almost-yearly visitor, to play in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
The Iowa Hawkeyes (8-4, 6-3 Big Ten) are going to be playing the Vanderbilt Commodores (10-2, 6-2 SEC) in the ReliaQuest Bowl from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, as reported by Brett McMurphy of On3.
This matchup will mark the first time that the two programs have played in their history.
Iowa, the No. 23 team in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, will have a chance to avenge a season full of close losses to ranked teams in this game. The Vanderbilt Commodores, who were petitioning for inclusion in the College Football Playoff, are ranked No. 14 in the latest rankings.
The ReliaQuest Bowl is formerly known as the Outback Bowl, where Iowa was a staple. The Hawkeyes played in six Outback Bowls from 2004-2019, going 3-3. This will be Iowa’s 38th bowl game in program history.
The ReliaQuest Bowl between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Vanderbilt Commodores will kick off at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, December 31, from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, and will be airing on ESPN.
