No. 25 Georgia women’s basketball (20-6, 6-6 SEC) is hosting its second to last home game of the regular season on Thursday night with another top ten ranked team in No. 10 Oklahoma (19-6, 7-5).
The Lady Bulldogs accomplished a massive feat on Sunday, defeating their first top five ranked team in No. 5 Vanderbilt with a keen defensive game plan against the Commodores’ and nation’s leading scorer in Mikayla Blakes. Georgia held Blakes to three shots from the field, making the majority of her 27 points from the charity stripe.
They have since jumped back into the USA TODAY Sports Coaches top 25 poll, strengthening their résumé for a postseason bid. Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson said after the Vanderbilt win that only three women on the roster have ever played in the postseason.
The Sooners are coming in on a two-game winning streak, having defeated Alabama 79-71 and Florida 81-74 after losing to Vanderbilt on Feb. 9.
