Georgia basketball will try to knock off its third straight team that is projected to make the NCAA Tournament when it faces No. 21 Vanderbilt.
The game in Nashville on Wednesday night Feb. 25 will have SEC seeding implciations.
Georgia (19-8, 7-7 SEC) began this week in 10th place in the standings, but is one game behind Vanderbilt (21-6, 8-6) and Texas who are tied for eighth.
Teams seeded No. 9-16 don’t get an SEC tournament bye and open on Wednesday March 11 in Nashville. Teams seeded No. 5-8 open SEC tournament play on March 12.
Vanderbilt is coming off a 69-65 home loss to Tennessee on Saturday. The Commodores started 16-0 but have gone 5-6 since Jan. 14.
Georgia, coming off a home win over Texas, has won two of its last three games at Vanderbilt, including its last, 76-64, on Feb. 21, 2024.

“He kind of stirs the drink for those guys,” Georgia coach Mike White said on his Monday radio show. “He’s really, really difficult to keep out of the paint.”
Vanderbilt’s Tyler Nickel leads the SEC with 88 3-pointers while shooting 42.9% on 3s.
Vanderbilt (9.9) and Georgia (9.4) rank third and fifth respectively in 3s per game.
“It just comes down to taking the ones we want,” Georgia guard Jeremiah Wilkinson said. “I feel like if we’re taking the 3s we want, taking the shots we want, they’re going to go in. We have a bunch of guys who can shoot the ball really well.”
Wilkinson leads Georgia with 58 3s, followed by Smurf Millender with 51, Kanon Catchings with 49 and Blue Cain with 38.
Georgia’s starting lineup against Texas was guards Marcus “Smurf” Millender and Blue Cain, forwards Kanon Catchings and Kareem Stagg and center Somto Cyril.
Georgia did not have a player on the SEC Availability Report. The Bulldogs have used a 10-player rotation the last two games.
Tipoff at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
