George Kimble III, who took a medical redshirt this past season at Vanderbilt, announced on Wednesday that he will transfer to play for Steven Pearl and the Auburn Tigers in 2026-27.
Kimble has not played college basketball since the 2024-25 season, when he suited up for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels and averaged 18 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He did a lot of his work at the free throw line and averaged 5.2 fouls drawn per 40 minutes with a solid 84% hit rate (95-112).
Kimble was also a playmaker on defense at Eastern Kentucky, averaging 2.6 steals per game while putting up decent blocking numbers despite standing at 6-2.

While Kimble averaged a lot of points at Eastern Kentucky, he was far from the most efficient guard in the conference (ASUN). He averaged 38% from the floor and 39% from 2 while hitting 34% of his shots from 3-point range. Seeing as he hasn’t played college hoops in nearly 2 years and is taking a jump up in competition, his efficiency will be something to watch out for on the Plains.
Kimble is the 5th transfer addition of the offseason for the Auburn Tigers. He joins former Troy forward Thomas Dowd, South Alabama transfer Adam Olsen, Santa Clara big man Bukky Oboye and Creighton’s Owen Freeman.
This completes a “trade” of sorts between the Tigers and Commodores. Vanderbilt recently landed a commitment from freshman forward Sebastian Williams-Adams out of Auburn.
