Jared Curtis candidate for Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Maxwell Football Club announced Wednesday that Vanderbilt football’s Jared Curtis has been placed on the 2026 Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list, presented to the outstanding freshman player in college football.
Curtis, a native of Dickson, Tennessee, was rated a 5-star prospect by 247Sports, On3 and ESPN and was ranked the top quarterback by all three outlets as well. The 2025 Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year appeared in 47 games at Nashville Christian Academy, rushing for over 2,100 yards with five career 100-yard rushing games.
During Curtis’ senior campaign, the signal-caller threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns with just three interceptions and added 18 rushing scores as he led the Eagles to a state championship and perfect record.
The Commodores kick off the regular season hosting Austin Peay on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. Early arriving fans will receive the first-of-its-kind head coach Clark Lea bobblehead.
