Frankie Collins, who has not suited up for Vanderbilt since December while dealing with a Meniscus tear, is no longer with the Vanderbilt basketball program, according to head coach Mark Byington.
“Frankie has left Nashville, and he’s not gonna be on the team,” Byington told Vanderbilt reporters. It’s gonna be good for both sides of it. We wish him well. So, we’ll roll with the guys we got.”

Collins’ absence has been noticeable, particularly on the defensive end. Vanderbilt has better scoring options than Collins, but the senior guard brought a physicality that often matched up against the opponent’s best playmaker. At the same time, Collins is a true point guard that facilitated well for a group of strong Commodores shooters. Before his injury, Collins was averaging just under 8 points, 4.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
No official reason has been given for Collins leaving the program. However, Collins commented on his absence from Vanderbilt on Wednesday. Here’s what he wrote on social media in response to a fan asking why he had left.
