Madison Booker leads Texas with 20 points.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Madison Booker led No. 4 Texas with 20 points and the Longhorns outscored No. 5 Vanderbilt in the second half, but fell 86-70 on Thursday at Memorial Gymnasium.

Breya Cunningham scored 14 points and Jordan Lee scored in double figures with 11 points. Bryanna Preston came off the bench to score five points and dish out seven assists to tie her career-high in assists. Aaliyah Crump also scored seven points off the bench.

Vanderbilt jumped out to a 27-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Longhorns (23-3, 8-3) responded coming out to start the second quarter with back-to-back baskets by Breya Cunningham and a Madison Booker layup to close the gap to six at 27-21. Vanderbilt scored the next seven points and would take a 47-30 lead into the halftime break.

Rori Harmon took the ball off a rebound by Ashton Judd and sprinted down the court to make a strong move to the basket early in the third quarter. Harmon made the layup and was fouled and connected on the free-throw to complete the three-point play.

Breya Cunningham provided a spark for Texas in the third quarter as she scored 10 straight Longhorn points. Texas ended the third period with a 9-1 run as Bryanna Preston made a layup and was fouled with under one second to play. Preston made the free-throw and Vanderbilt led 70-52 at the end of the period.

Texas carried the momentum to start the fourth quarter as they used a 6-0 run and cut the Vanderbilt lead to 12 at 70-58 on an assist from Madison Booker to Kyla Oldacre for a layup.

Texas cut the lead to 11 at 77-66 on a Booker jumper with 3:53 to play, but that is the closest they would get as Vanderbilt made a pair of free-throws and came away with the 86-70 victory.

Up next the Longhorns will travel to Knoxville to take on No. 22 Tennessee on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2:00 p.m. CT. That game will be televised on ABC.
