AUBURN — Perspective can go a long way, and it was something Mark Byington found quickly after Vanderbilt’s latest win.
“The stat was that we’re 3-4 in our last seven games,” the Commodores coach said. “Maybe now they’ll say that we won four of the last five.”
Byington admitted he’s more “sunny” and optimistic after making the remark, but it was hard to see much sunshine for his opponent. In securing a much-needed win, 20th-ranked Vanderbilt sunk Auburn basketball into a season-worst losing streak, now at three consecutive defeats, leaving the Tigers’ best perspective as harsh reality.
