Trio of Commodores honored following football’s Senior Day victory
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt football had a season-high three individuals pick up weekly SEC honors after its defeat of Kentucky over the weekend, it was announced by the league office on Monday. Diego Pavia and Martel Hight were selected Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, while Isaia Glass was honored as Offensive Lineman of the Week.
The three were recognized after helping the Commodores to their ninth regular-season win—the first time the program has achieved the feat since 1915—and their first undefeated mark at home since the 1982 campaign with a 45-17 victory over the Wildcats at FirstBank Stadium.
Pavia, one of the leading contenders for the Heisman Trophy, recorded 532 total yards and accounted for six touchdowns in the contest. He completed 33-of-39 passes for a school-record 484 yards and five scores while leading Vandy with 48 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries to post the most total offense yards by a Dore since at least 1996. With the effort, the Albuquerque, New Mexico, resident became the first FBS quarterback to throw for at least 480 yards and five scores in a game this season.
Hight intercepted two passes and added another pass broken up for the Vanderbilt defense in the win, becoming the first Commodore with multiple interceptions in a game since the 2023 season opener. The native of Rome, Georgia, had his first pick come on the final play of the opening half while his second was on a 1st-and-goal play from the VU-1 in the fourth quarter, as his efforts helped the Vandy defense limit the Wildcats to just 81 first-half yards and 102 through three quarters in building a 45-3 advantage.
Glass—a graduate transfer from San Tan Valley, Arizona—was credited with the Commodores’ highest Pro Football Focus pass and overall blocking grades following the victory, one in which he did not allow a quarterback hit on 47 pass-block snaps. He was part of a line that helped Vandy set a program record with 539 passing yards in a game and finish the contest with over 600 yards of total offense against an SEC opponent for the first time since defeating Tennessee on Nov. 26, 2016.
The Commodores, now ranked 12th in both in the Associated Press poll and AFCA coaches’ polls, visit No. 18/18 Tennessee Saturday in their regular season finale. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
