A historically bad winter storm scuttled most of Vanderbilt’s plans to host key 2027 visitors over the last week-plus, but one new target did get the chance to make it to campus. The Commodores welcomed in defensive lineman Eli Thornton just a few days after offering him as the Jonesboro (Ark.) Valley View product’s recruitment ramps up.
Thornton received an offer from Vandy last week and promptly scheduled a visit as the first leg of a two-visit weekend before heading up to Kentucky. Upon arriving, Thornton and his mother grabbed lunch at Martin’s Bar-B-Que by campus with defensive line coach Larry Black and defensive ends coach Jovan Haye. They then met with defensive coordinator Steve Gregory before having a long chat with Black and Haye in the former’s office.
Overall, Thornton said it was an “amazing” visit.
