More help is on the way for Vanderbilt as it looks for depth on the edge. The Commodores landed a commitment from Boston College transfer edge defender Edwin Kolenge on Thursday according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Chris Hummer and Cody Nagel as Vandy added another veteran to its front four.
Kolenge started 10 games for the Eagles in 2025, posting 31 total tackles with one sack and one tackle for loss. A native of Canada who attended high school in the United States, Kolenge played four seasons at Boston College and will have one year of eligibility remaining. Kolenge does not yet hold a transfer grade from 247Sports’ evaluators.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 252 pounds, Kolenge could play either of Vandy’s edge positions as a true defensive end or a stand-up outside linebacker. Redshirt senior Miles Capers and Brian Allen, a transfer from Iowa, project as the Commodores’ two starters on the edge.
In 2025, Kolenge’s best game arguably came against SMU in a blowout loss for the Eagles. Kolenge registered one sack and three additional pressures according to Pro Football Focus, as he started and played 34 snaps. Kolenge played 443 snaps overall in 2025.
A 3-star recruit in the 2022 class out of The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Conn., Kolenge chose Boston College over offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, UCF, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others. Kolenge was considered a linebacker coming out of high school but played on the defensive front in all four of his years with the Eagles.
Kolenge became the 16th member of Vandy’s incoming transfer class and the third edge alongside Allen and former LSU outside linebacker CJ Jackson, both of whom rate as 3-star transfers.
