The NFL Scouting Combine never ceases to amaze as the best football prospects in the country show off their jaw-dropping athletic ability in a variety of tests.
It was Denton Guyer product Eli Stowers who stole the show on Friday night with some record-breaking athletic testing. His 45.5-inch vertical leap was the highest mark for a tight end since 2003 and his 11-foot-3 broad jump set a new combine record for the position. According to Benjamin Solak, Stowers’ vertical is the third-highest among all positions since 1999.
As a cherry on top of his explosive performance, the former Guyer star also ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash. That time was good for second among tight ends this year, just behind Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq, who set an all-time combine record for tight ends with a ridiculous 4.39-second time.

The Vanderbilt star was already one of the top tight ends in this year’s draft after a winding college career that began at Texas A&M as a quarterback before he became a stud tight end for New Mexico State and Vanderbilt. Over the last two years at Vanderbilt, he caught 111 passes for 1,406 yards and nine touchdowns.
