Vanderbilt basketball star Tyler Tanner intends to continue pursuing his dream of getting selected in the NBA Draft.
The Vanderbilt basketball team had a special season in 2025-26, including a trip to the SEC tournament championship game. Vanderbilt star guard Tyler Tanner was one of the team's leaders. He intends to continue exploring his NBA Draft potential, per Draft Express.
“Vanderbilt's Tyler Tanner has elected to compete in the NBA Combine's 5-on-5 scrimmages, he tells DraftExpress, pushing back on speculation he's returning to school,” Jonathan Givony posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Tanner still has eligibility left in college basketball. He has also considered returning to Vanderbilt. Time will tell what the talented guard decides to do.
Tanner had several monster games for Vanderbilt during this past season. He averaged more than 19 points per game, leading the Commodores to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. He shot close to 49 percent from the field this season.
“I'll do whatever it takes to stay in the draft. I'm not running from anything. I love to play,” Tanner said.
Vanderbilt made the NCAA tournament's Round of 32 this past season. The Commodores were denied a spot in the Sweet 16. Vanderbilt lost to Nebraska, 74-72.
In that game, Tanner scored 27 points. He was the team's top scoring option this past season. Tanner had a 37-point barrage in a close loss during the season to Oklahoma. He led the team in points and assists.
