One of the top SEC college basketball matchups on the Wednesday night slate brings us to Nashville.
The Vanderbilt Commodores (21-6, 8-6 SEC) seemed to have things turned around after a three-game losing streak earlier in conference play, but they’ve now dropped back-to-back games to Missouri and Tennessee by a combined five points. Now, they look to get back on track at home as they welcome the Georgia Bulldogs (19-8, 7-7 SEC) to town.
UGA recently occupied a precarious spot on the bubble, but back-to-back wins over Kentucky and Texas have it back semi-comfortably within the projected NCAA tournament field.

This will be the first and only matchup between these two teams in the regular season, and it carries major NCAA tournament seeding implications. This should be a high-scoring matchup as both teams have dangerous backcourts that shoot the three-ball well.
Defensively, it’s a different story. Vandy’s is far from elite, but Georgia’s has struggled mightily and ranks outside the top 300 in points allowed per game. Still, size could prove to be an advantage for UGA here against a smaller Vanderbilt lineup.
The Bulldogs have their struggles with defensive rebounding, but they’re very good on the offensive glass. If they can get a lot of second-chance points, they have a real chance to pull the upset here. Going on the road makes this trickier, but this spread feels too big for teams trending in opposite directions over the last week.
