Vanderbilt basketball will be hiring Joel Justus, the associate head coach at Ohio State, as an assistant, according to a report from the Columbus Dispatch.
Justus previously worked at NC State, Arizona State and Kentucky and went to the Final Four with the Wolfpack in 2024.
“I’m excited to join a longtime friend in (coach) Mark Byington,” Justus said, according to the Columbus Dispatch. “It’s bittersweet, because I love what we’ve done here in getting this program back to where everyone wants it to be and have a tremendous amount of confidence in Jake and the staff and the university that this will continue to grow to where Buckeye Nation wants it to be.”
Justus, who joined Ohio State coach Jake Diebler’s staff in April 2024, will replace Kenneth Mangrum, who is leaving Vanderbilt to take a job at Georgia Tech.
Vanderbilt finished the 2025-26 season 27-9 and made it to the second round of the Men’s NCAA Tournament, falling a half-court shot short of the Sweet 16 to Nebraska.
