OXFORD, Miss. — Kewan Lacy remains questionable for Saturday’s trip to Vanderbilt, while safety Gerald Lacy Jr. has moved from questionable to out on the SEC’s Thursday availability report. The update, posted at 7:10 p.m. CT on October 8, lists eight Ole Miss players as out and leaves Kewan Lacy as the Rebels’ only questionable designation.

Thursday’s report also adds wide receiver Izaiah Hartrup to the out list. Meanwhile, cornerbacks Cedrick Beavers and Dorian Barney and safety MJ Preston, all listed as probable Wednesday, no longer appear on the report.
The changes give the Rebels a clearer picture of their available personnel as they prepare to return from the open week. The biggest unresolved question remains in the backfield, where Kewan Lacy’s status continues to draw attention after he missed the Florida game.
Pete Golding expressed optimism earlier this week about having Lacy available against Vanderbilt, but Thursday’s questionable designation leaves his participation unsettled. Golding also indicated that the Rebels plan to rotate their running backs rather than immediately give Lacy a full workload.
With Joshua Dye again listed as out, JT Lindsey and Makhi Frazier remain important pieces of the backfield picture. If Lacy is available, his return would give Ole Miss another option as the offense looks to establish greater balance and respond to the loss in Gainesville.
For now, the report offers no change in Lacy’s designation from Wednesday. His availability will remain a key storyline as Saturday approaches.
On defense, Gerald Lacy Jr. is now ruled out after appearing in Wednesday’s questionable category. He joins safety Craig Tutt and linebacker Ant Davis Jr., both of whom remain out. Hartrup is the other addition to the out category. Offensive linemen Jalan Chapman and Emanuel Faulkner and tight end Wyatt Smalley also retain their out designations from the initial report.

The Commodores’ Thursday designations match Wednesday’s initial report, with freshman quarterback Jared Curtis still listed as probable. His potential return remains a consideration for an Ole Miss defense preparing for both Curtis and Blaze Berlowitz.
Golding addressed that challenge during Wednesday’s SEC Football Coaches Teleconference, noting that Vanderbilt’s quarterbacks bring different styles. The Rebels have emphasized recognizing personnel and understanding how the Commodores’ approach can change depending on who is taking the snaps.
Vanderbilt again lists cornerback Jaylin Lackey, linebacker Jamison Curtis, defensive lineman Aaron Bryant and wide receiver Kahden Smith as out. Offensive lineman Mitchell Smith remains doubtful.

For Ole Miss, Thursday’s update narrows the uncertainty to Kewan Lacy while confirming additional absences at receiver and safety. The Rebels will look to carry their open-week work into a stronger performance against a Vanderbilt team preparing for its SEC home opener.
Ole Miss and Vanderbilt kick off Saturday, October 10, at 2:30 p.m. CT at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. The game will be televised on ESPN.
