It’s been a tough year across the athletic department for Tennessee in its in-state rivalry with Vanderbilt. UT has suffered losses to the Commodores in football, two-of-three in men’s basketball, women’s basketball and a sweep in baseball.
If it gives Vol fans any solace, they can flex this aspect of the football team’s Pro Day that Vanderbilt can’t, though. On Tuesday, all 32 NFL teams sent a representative to Knoxville to see Tennessee’s alumni in action.
A couple of weeks ago, the Commodores only attracted 31 teams to Nashville. According to their graphic, the missing team was the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Pro Day, it’s a great time to see our guys kind of culminate and finish a career,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after the event. “14 guys, their families back here inside of our building. A lot of fun to see them go execute and compete and perform the way that they did today.
“Guys that are on the back end of the career, you look at a guy like Alvin Kamara, that’s back here yesterday with our team, these are guys that are going to continue to come back and pay it forward to the guys that are inside of our program. Can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done here at Tennessee with our staff, and I was really excited and happy with the way they performed today.”
The headliner of Pro Day for Tennessee was cornerback Jermod McCoy. After not going through drills at the combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.37 seconds and went through drills. Fellow cornerback Colton Hood also ran the 40 and went through drills. The pair are both projected as first-round picks.
Other notable players to participate included quarterback Joey Aguilar, wide receiver Chris Brazzell and edge rusher Joshua Josephs.
