Longhorns Women's Basketball
Although she ceded her throne this week, Texas women's basketball standout Madison Booker is still considered to be SEC royalty.
The SEC released its awards for the 2025-26 women's basketball season Tuesday, and Booker earned first-team honors on the conference's honor roll. The Longhorns' junior forward was one of 10 first-team honorees:

This year's player of the year decision, which was voted upon by the league's coaches, was much more about what Blakes did this season than what Booker didn't do. While leading Vanderbilt to the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament, Blakes has averaged a nation-leading 27.1 points. Ten of her 12 30-point games came in SEC play. The 5-foot-8 sophomore guard's 34 points in an 86-70 win over Texas on Feb. 12 were the most scored against the Longhorns during head coach Vic Schaefer's six-year tenure.
"We probably had the same problem everybody else has had with her," Schaefer said after that loss.
Meanwhile, Booker is averaging 18.8 points and 6.3 rebounds. She has 130 fewer field-goal attempts than Blakes, and her 50.8 shooting percentage ranks behind just South Carolina's Joyce Edwards among SEC players with at least 400 shots.

Booker wasn't the only Longhorn recognized by the SEC. Veteran point guard Rori Harmon earned a second-team designation and also was one of five members of the SEC's all-defensive team.

Harmon is averaging 8.5 points and 6.4 assists as a fifth-year senior, and became UT's all-time assists leader in November. This is the fourth time that Harmon has been placed on a conference all-defensive team. Harmon, who also owns the career steals record at Texas, was the Big 12's defensive player of the year her sophomore season.
