Tennessee (16-12, 8-8 SEC) concluded regular-season basketball play on Sunday. No. 5 Vanderbilt (27-3, 13-3 SEC) extended its win streak over the Lady Vols to three games after defeating Tennessee, 87-77, at Food City Center.
Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
Vanderbilt sophomore guard Mikayla Blakes led all scorers with 34 points. She converted 12-of-23 field goal attempts, 6-of-9 three-point attempts and 4-of-4 free throw attempts. Blakes also totaled six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Aubrey Galvan also scored 24 points for the Commodores, while Sacha Washington totaled 16 points.
Talaysia Cooper led the Lady Vols with 23 points. Janiah Barker (17), Nya Robertson (12) and Zee Spearman (10) also scored 10-plus points for Tennessee.
Vanderbilt won at Food City Center for the second time in program history.
The Lady Vols honored Barker, Robertson, Spearman, Jersey Wolfenbarger and Kaiya Wynn before the game for senior day.
