Vanderbilt basketball guard Frankie Collins is medically cleared to return from a knee injury, coach Mark Byington said on Jan. 31.
Collins has not played Dec. 17 against Memphis. Vanderbilt next hosts Oklahoma on Feb. 7.
“Frankie is medically cleared, and we just got to get him going,” Byington said after the Commodores’ victory over Ole Miss on Jan. 31. “So, hopefully this bye week’s the one. But he’s got to push himself and get ready. I know we counted on him, we invested in him. He’s a guy who can really help us win. So hopefully he has the same motivation to get back.”
The fifth-year senior averaged 7.8 points, 4.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game through the first month of the season, totaling 22 steals over nine games.
Collins provides important depth in the backcourt for the Commodores. Duke Miles, the team’s second leading scorer, missed the last two games with a knee injury.
