Duke Miles is expected to return for Vanderbilt basketball against Tennessee after being out nearly a month with knee surgery, coach Mark Byington said.
Miles underwent knee surgery on Jan. 28 to correct a lingering injury and has not played since, missing six games. Vanderbilt (21-5, 8-5 SEC) went 4-2 in those six games.
Miles is the Commodores’ second-leading scorer this season with 16.6 points per game and provides Vanderbilt with a second ball-handler beyond Tyler Tanner.
Vanderbilt will face the Vols (19-7, 9-4) Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN.
“He’s very smart, he watches the game, he understands the game, he’s been staying locked in,” Byington said. “So if there is a little bit of an adjustment, I don’t think it will be for long.”
Byington said Miles would not be on an official minutes restriction but there would be certain points of the game where he may have to come out.
Tyler Tanner was sick for Vanderbilt’s game against Missouri, though he played anyway and recorded 27 points.
Tanner is still not at 100%, Byington said, but he’s recovering. He will still play against Tennessee.
