The Vanderbilt Commodores enter 2025 with more expectations and big-name returners than any time since 2013.We are just over 24 hours from Vanderbilt football teeing it up and kicking off against Charleston Southern to open its 2025 season. This is the first season since 2014 where the program is coming off a bowl victory. Thankfully, there is no lightning in the forecast, and every major member of the coaching staff along with ~70% of its statistical production. A repeat of the Temple Het Wettening does not seem like a statistically significant threat. The Commodores have had two bowl appearances since then.…

Doing what you are a supposed to do against a lesser opponent is step 1 the season this team and its fans want.Starting the season with an emphatic win over a clearly overmatched FCS program is what good teams are supposed to do. These games do very little to tell us about a team’s ceiling. The only thing we can really get out of them is that the team appears to have taken their offseason work seriously to be crisp, outside of a few offensive penalties, in game one. Last week I went over a list of the most pressing…
A 34-0 second half powered Vanderbilt to one of the most dominant wins over another power conference team ever.Vanderbilt drubbing Charleston Southern 45-3 was impressive but expected. Vanderbilt hammering Virginia Tech 44-20 without punting was not expected. It certainly gives us all a lot to talk about this week. Some of it will be overreaction. It is easy to do when you completely dismantle an ACC opponent in a way that the Commodores have not done since at least Brigadoon. Trying to be the rational one who does not go over the top with extreme optimism is a weird place…
Post VANDERBILT Football and/or SEC Football questions in the comments here. The curse has been lifted. For 16 years, we all lived as a Beast and/or trapped inside inanimate objects like a teapot or candelabra, watching our rose slowly lose its petals every time we played The South Cackalacky Game Penises. Then we got our Belle—Diego Pavia—and we all transformed back into… okay, I’m going to stop with this strained analogy, as it’s making me want to vomit. I don’t want to vomit today. I want to shout from the rooftops, as 3-0 feels pretty good right about now. What do I…
Post VANDERBILT Football and/or SEC Football questions in the comments here.We just beat a top #20 Missourah (spits) team and an entire crew of refs at home. It was a weird one, but our defense shined, MK Ultra broke one, and we made just enough plays to hold on to a 17-10 victory.7-1. Sweet Sassy Molassy, the Vanderbilt Football Commodores are 7-1 and firmly in playoff contention.…and I’m sure you all have questions….and that’s it.*Note: Questions about other SEC football teams are welcome, too. We just won’t know as much about them, and will likely respond with juvenile, biased trash…

The losing-est program of any Power-Four program in the history of college football, Indiana, is just one win away from clinching its first ever National Championship. The Hoosiers finished with a 3-9 record as recently as 2023, but have won 26 of their last 28 games under head coach Curt Cignetti. Many have lauded the turnaround of the Indiana program as one of the greatest in college football history. However, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum wants Vanderbilt to garner some respect for its turnaround as well. The Commodores won 10 games for the first time in program history this season and had their…
