FORT WORTH, Texas – Notre Dame women’s basketball isn’t just happy to be at the Sweet Sixteen. The 6 seed Irish celebrated hard after upsetting 3 seed Ohio State in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Round of 32 Monday, March 23, in Columbus, but quickly shifted their focus once they knew 2 seed Vanderbilt awaited next.
Beating a 27-8 Buckeyes squad that was only ranked six spots higher than Notre Dame in the NCAA NET Rankings was one thing. A matchup against the seventh-best team in the nation according to those rankings, a Commodores squad which boasts the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year and Naismith Women’s College Basketball Player of the Year Finalist, is a new level of competition.
