Midseason Honor for The Union – Vanderbilt Commodores

Commodore offensive line up for the Joe Moore Award
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt football program’s offensive line was recognized on Wednesday when the unit was one of 24 in the country included on the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll announced by the Foundation for Teamwork.
The award is named after Joe Moore, who is widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history. Semifinalists for the award will be revealed on Nov. 5.
The Commodore line—led by assistant coaches Chris Klenakis and Jeff Nady—has featured the same starting five the first half of the season: Isaia Glass, Bryce Henderson, Cade McConnell, Chase Mitchell and Jordan White. Their efforts have helped Vandy to a 5-0 start, the second time in the last 80-plus seasons the program has achieved the feat, and a place in the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches’ rankings each of the last five weeks.
The unit has surrendered three tackles for loss per game and a total of just four sacks thus far this season, both figures that rank among the top 10 nationally. The Dore offense is also second in the country in third-down conversion percentage (57.9) and seventh in scoring average (43.2) while standing among the top 25 in rushing (208.7) and total (467.5) yards per contest.
Vanderbilt began the campaign with five consecutive wins of 20-plus points, the first time the program has accomplished the feat since 1915, and has currently outscored the opposition by a total of 143 points at the midway point of the regular season.
The Commodores, who are ranked in the top 20 in both the AP and coaches’ polls, take on No. 10/10 LSU Saturday. The matchup is set for broadcast on ABC with an 11 a.m. kickoff at FirstBank Stadium.
