Vanderbilt Football’s season ended on Dec. 31 in its loss to Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl, but now, head coach Clark Lea and his staff face another monumental challenge: the transfer portal.
The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened on Jan. 2, and it will remain open for 15 days until Jan. 16. This year is the first time that the NCAA has instituted just the one transfer window — formerly relying on two windows (one in the winter and one in the spring) for players to enter.
With the new age of college football upon us, there’s no telling which of Vanderbilt’s players may opt to stick around or test the waters with other schools. Much of it likely has to do with where players can maximize their value in terms of NIL and revenue sharing — the latter of which is now available to players through the recent House Settlement.
It’s officially portal season. So, expect a lot of change in the coming weeks as Vanderbilt’s 2026 roster is slowly shaped. To help keep track of players movements, The Hustler has created an off-season transfer tracker: your all-access pass to the 2026 transfer portal window.
This story will be updated throughout the offseason.
(Jan. 3): Football: Tre Richardson to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
The wide receiver started 12 of 13 games for the Commodores in 2025, racking up 806 receiving yards and 7 total touchdowns.
(Jan. 7): Football: Randon Fontenette to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
The junior will leave Vanderbilt Football after racking up 52 tackles and a forced fumble in the 2025 season.
