The 2026 transfer portal window is over, and Vanderbilt has most of its football roster set for this coming season. Although the Commodores could add a piece or two here or there, most Power Four transfers have already selected their next schools at this point — there isn’t a big supply of quality players left even if Vandy wanted to make major moves.
In all, Vandy has added 17 transfers with 17 players transferring out of the program. The ‘Dores will welcome a smaller class than in 2025, when they took 20 transfers.
So while the black and gold will look a lot different in 2026 with a new quarterback in the shotgun and a large handful of key pieces moving on, a fair amount of the replacements will come in the form of internal promotions. There were still some plug-and-play additions, however, as Vandy cannot afford to fall too far from its 10-3 record in 2025 if it wants to keep momentum going.
Here are Vandy247’s grades on the Commodores’ transfer portal activity by area and overall. The overall grade is weighted more heavily toward additions through the transfer portal and less toward retention, as much of the legwork for retention takes place year-round rather than during the transfer portal window.
