No. 9 Ole Miss visits Vanderbilt at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, in Week 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
My Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt prediction and college football picks have the Commodores keeping this SEC battle competitive in a low-scoring affair.
Ole Miss is a 9.5-point favorite heading into the weekend, with the total currently at 55.5 and potentially on the move due to Hurricane Isaias.
Playable to 52%.
The strength of the Ole Miss offense is undeniably its passing attack, led by Trinidad Chambliss, which could prove problematic against a fundamentally sound Vanderbilt secondary.
Vanderbilt held Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown to a season-low 140 passing yards one week after he threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns against Florida. In Week 5, Vanderbilt gave Georgia its toughest test to date in 2026, trailing by only one score midway through the third quarter before the Bulldogs finally pulled away.
Ole Miss running backs had only 84 rushing yards against Florida and 63 rushing yards against LSU. If the Rebels can’t establish their ground attack in rainy conditions this weekend, it’s difficult to see them covering a large number.
Playable to 55%.
This weekend’s game between Ole Miss and Vanderbilt is forecast to be directly in the path of Hurricane Isaias. Sustained winds above 20 mph, coupled with even stronger gusts, figure to make passing the ball downfield a significant challenge for both offenses on Saturday.
A high chance of rain only further increases the likelihood that we see plenty of rushing attempts and a running clock between these teams in Week 6.
Playable to 30%.
In poor weather conditions, taking the underdog to cover in a low-scoring game is a correlated strategy. The strength of Vanderbilt’s roster is its veteran defense, which has performed well against other top offenses early in 2026.
