The Vanderbilt Commodores won 10 games in 2025, a feat that had never before been accomplished in program history. In addition, tight end Eli Stowers (Eagles) was selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the 54th overall pick, becoming the highest drafted player in school history since Jordan Matthews was chosen 42nd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014.
It also marked the second consecutive year in which Vanderbilt had a player selected in the NFL Draft after being shut out entirely the previous three years. The positive results has made Clark Lea the reigning SEC Coach of the Year for the second straight season. However, Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback Diego Pavia (Ravens) has since moved onto the NFL, raising questions as to whether the Commodores can sustain their success.
The most anticipated prospect remaining on the roster would be wideout Junior Sherrill (pic: Vanderbilt Athletics). The Nashville native is a compact wideout, with exceptional athleticism and yards after catch ability. Meanwhile, mean-mugging mauler Cade McConnell may not receive the national limelight but is a well-known commodity within NFL circles. The distinction of most exciting player might belong to Martel Hight, who moonlights on both sides of the ball as a wideout/cornerback.
