NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 7/6-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team opens a three-game road trip on Sunday, as the Commodores take on Texas A&M at Reed Arena. Tipoff against the Aggies is set for 2 p.m. CT and streams live on SEC Network+.
Starting Five
>> The Dores head to College Station, Texas, looking to match the best start in program history. Vanderbilt is 16-0 and 3-0 in SEC play after a 99-68 victory over Missouri this past Thursday at Memorial Gymnasium. All five Vandy starters scored 15-plus points against Mizzou, making it only the second time since 1999-00 that an SEC team has accomplished the feat.
>> The 16-straight wins by the Commodores are the second-most victories to start a season in program history. Additionally, it is the second-longest winning streak overall at Vanderbilt. A victory against the Aggies would match the school-record 17-game winning streak set by the 1992-93 Final Four team to open that season.
>> Vanderbilt’s 16-game winning streak is the fourth-longest active streak in the country. Only UConn (32 games), Texas (18 games), and Texas Tech (17-0) have won more consecutive games than the Commodores coming into the weekend.
>> Vandy is seeking its first 4-0 start in SEC play since the 2000-01 campaign. The Dores are off to their first 3-0 start in league play since the 2023-24 season.
>> The Dores and Aggies matchup for the 19th time in a series that dates back to the 1995-96 season. The two schools are facing off as SEC programs for the 17th time. Texas A&M holds a 10-8 lead in the series, though Vanderbilt has won each of the last two games and four of the last five contest against TAMU. Vandy is 4-2 vs. Texas A&M under head coach Shea Ralph, while the Commodores are 2-6 all-time at Reed Arena against the Aggies.

National Rankings
The Commodores came in at No. 7 in the Associated Press top 25 and No. 6 in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll this week. It marks the program’s highest ranking in either poll since the 2006-07season.
It is the highest ranking for the Commodores in the Associated Press poll since coming in at No. 9 in the Week 18 poll during the 2006-07 season. It is also Vandy’s highest appearance in the USA Today/WBCA coaches poll since being ranked No. 8 in the Week 19 poll of the same season.
NET Ranking
Vanderbilt holds a NET ranking of 12 heading into the weekend. Vandy has collected one Quad 1 win, three Quad 2 victories and five Quad 3 wins through the first 16 games this season.
The Dores opened the season at No. 12 in the first NET rankings of the 2025-26 season. The NET is an evaluation tool used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine seeding and bids.
Undefeated
Vanderbilt has won all 16 of its games this season, coming into Sunday. The Commodores are one of four undefeated teams remaining in NCAA Division I this season, and they are also one of two unbeaten SEC teams.
Starters Output
All five Vanderbilt starters scored 15-plus points in Thursday’s 99-68 win over Missouri. It marks the first time since 1999-00 that the Commodores have had all five starters register 15 or more points in a game. It is only the second occurrence in the SEC since 1999-00, as Arkansas also accomplished the feat against Florida on Jan. 5, 2023.
Road Warriors
The Commodores are 11-6 in SEC road games since the start of the 2023-24 season. Vandy won a program record six road games in 2023-24. Overall, Vanderbilt is 18-7 in true road games since the 2023-24 campaign and
Elite Scorer
Sophomore Mikayla Blakes’ career scoring average of 23.8 points per game is not only tops among all active SEC players, but with Southern Cal’s JuJu Watkins missing this season due to injury, the Vanderbilt guard currently holds the highest career scoring average amongst all active NCAA Division I players.
Earlier this season, the Somerset, New Jersey, native recently became the fastest SEC player to score 1,000 points at the NCAA Division I level, accomplishing the feat in 42 games. Blakes is one of nine NCAA Division I players since 1981-82 to score 1,000 points in 42 games or fewer.
Scouting the Aggies
Texas A&M holds an 8-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in SEC play. The Aggies are ranked No. 67 in the NET ranking coming into the weekend after a 74-66 win at Florida this past Thursday. Texas A&M is 4-2 at home this season. The Aggies are in their fourth season under the direction of Joni Taylor, who is 46-56 in College Station.
Senior Ny’Ceara Pryor leads the Aggies in scoring at 16.5 points per contest. Junior Fatmata Janneh is averaging a double-double, as the 6-1 forward puts in 11.8 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Junior Janae Kent chips in 9.3 points per outing.
The Aggies average 68.7 points per game. Defensively, they allow 61.7 points to the opposition. Texas A&M is shooting 39.0 percent from the floor and 25.9 percent from behind the arc. Defensively, TAMU allows opponents to shoot 37.5 percent from the field and 31.2 percent beyond the 3-point line.
