Men’s Basketball: Tyler Harris enters the Transfer Portal
No. 12-seeded Vanderbilt Men’s Tennis traveled to College Station, Texas, April 15-16, to  participate in the SEC Tournament. After cruising to a 4-2 win over No. 13-seed Alabama, the ’Dores fell to No. 10-seed Texas A&M, 2-4. 
The Crimson Tide jumped out to a 1-0 lead early after securing the doubles point. Rohan Hazratwala and Matic Kriznik defeated Pablo Martinez Gomes and Callum Markowitz, 7-5, while Brendan Loh and Carlos Gimenez Perez defeated Danil Panarin and Jack Satterfield, 6-4. With the wins on Courts No. 2 and 3, Alabama secured the doubles point, leaving the No. 11-ranked pairing of Nathan Cox and Hoyoung Roh unfinished against No. 10-ranked Vit Kalina and Andrii Zimnokh with the score knotted at 6-6.  
The Crimson Tide further separated themselves during singles play when No. 92 Kalina downed No. 85 Roh, 6-3, 6-3. However, the ’Dores did not go down easily, battling back to grab four straight singles wins and walk away with the first-round victory. Getting the Commodores rolling, Cox defeated Yoshka Sborowsky, 6-3, 6-4.  
The ’Dores then knotted the score at two-apiece when Cayden Wang defeated Loh in straight sets. Panarin gave the Black and Gold their first lead of the day when he defeated Zimnokh 6-2, 7-6 (4), while Satterfield delivered the final blow when he downed Gimenez Perex 7-6 (2) and 6-3.  
“You need to hang around, that’s how tennis is played as a team sport,” Vanderbilt head coach Scott Brown said. “We all kind of feed off each other, which is something that we try to talk to the guys a lot about. And I think that’s what helped us at the end.” 
With the win, the Commodores moved on to a second-round matchup against the host school, Texas A&M. 
The Commodores did not fare as well against the Aggies as they did against the Crimson Tide. Despite grabbing an early 2-1 lead over Texas A&M, the Commodores were unable to fend off an Aggie comeback, ultimately falling 2-4.  
The Black and Gold dropped their second-straight doubles point of the weekend: No. 5-ranked Theo Papamalamis and Togan Tokac defeated No. 11 Cox and Roh, 6-3, while Lathan Skrobarcek and Markus Molder defeated Panarin and Satterfield. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Commodores quickly bounced back with two singles wins to take the lead. First, Wang defeated Riago Pires in straight sets while Panarin did the same against Alex Frusina.  
Vanderbilt’s momentum would end there, though. Tokac defeated Satterfield, 6-4, 6-3, to even the score, and the Aggies then sealed the win when No. 41 Montsi defeated No. 85 Roh and No. 10 Papamalamis defeated No. 68 Martinez Gomez — both in straight sets.  
“We dug ourselves a little bit of a hole, but I give our guys credit,” Brown said. “They came out like lions in singles, and they weren’t going to leave this place until they left their heart and soul on the court. I’m really proud of how it was in singles, not so proud about the doubles, but we competed the right way and fought like dogs.” 
Next up for the Commodores will be the announcement of the NCAA Tournament, where the ’Dores are almost certain to receive an at-large bid April 27.
