The No. 19 Vanderbilt men’s hoops squad is set for a massive test this Saturday as they welcome the Texas A&M Aggies to town for a high-stakes Valentine’s Day showdown with massive implications on the SEC race heading into the back half of February.
Both the Aggies and Commodores are currently sitting 2 games back of the conference-leading Florida Gators, with Vanderbilt coming off a massive road win against Auburn and A&M riding a 3-game losing streak.
The Aggies are in desperate need of a big win to keep their season on track, and they will be looking to pick up that win against a Vanderbilt squad that will once again be missing 2 of its best players.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Vanderbilt head coach Mark Byington has confirmed that Duke Miles and Frankie Collins have been ruled out yet again against the Aggies with knee injuries.
Collins hasn’t seen the court for the Dores since they faced Memphis back on December 17th, while Miles has missed the past 4 games for Vanderbilt due to a knee injury that required cleanup surgery.
Vandy has been able to hold its own fairly well so far with both Miles and Collins on the sideline, but their depth could be tested against an A&M squad that is still firmly in the mix for a top 10 seed come March.
Vanderbilt’s Duke Miles (knee) and Frankie Collins (knee) are both OUT for Saturday’s game against Texas A&M, per Mark Byington.
Miles averages 16.6 PPG and has not played since 1/24.
Collins averages 7.8 PPG and has not played since 12/17.
