AUBURN — The close of a daunting six-game stretch for Auburn basketball is near, but the Tigers will need a strong finish to remain in solid standing for the NCAA Tournament.
The push started on a high note, with Auburn upsetting Florida on the road before beating Texas at home, but back-to-back losses against Tennessee and Alabama now have the Tigers sitting at .500 in conference play, tied for 10th in the SEC standings.
Auburn’s gauntlet ends this week, starting with a home game against No. 20 Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Feb. 10, (6 p.m. CT, SECN) before heading to 21st-ranked Arkansas over the weekend. It needs to find a win somewhere, and an upset of the once red-hot Commodores could be vital.
“This one starts another four-out-of-five stretch of Quad 1 games,” coach Steven Pearl said Monday. “It’s another great opportunity to bounce back and play a really good Vanderbilt team.”
