Vanderbilt basketball coach Mark Byington said the current expectation is that injured guard Frankie Collins will return this season, but there is no timetable.
Collins hasn’t played since suffering a knee injury in December. Byington said the injury was originally given a four- to six-week timetable but after seven weeks, Collins is still not ready to play.
Collins was on the bench during a 92-91 loss to Oklahoma at Memorial Gymnasium on Feb. 7, but he was not dressed in uniform.
The TCU transfer is averaging 7.8 points per game and was Vanderbilt’s backup point guard.
“From everything I know (he’ll return this season),” Byington said. “Frankie’s still doing his rehab, he’s still working. It’s hard to give a timetable. I wish it was closer . . . But we’re not giving up on him.”
Byington also did not have an exact timetable for Duke Miles’ return, but said the guard was doing great in his rehab and is expected to return this season.
