Desperately trying to get back in the win column.
The losing streak has now reached nine for Oklahoma (11-12, 1-9) after their midweek defeat at the hands of Kentucky, and they are now again looking to end the skid on the road when they face No. 15 Vanderbilt (19-3, 8-3) on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
For OU, any hopes of getting back into the NCAA Tournament conversation as an at-large team are pretty much dashed outside of perhaps running the table from here. The Sooners simply are looking to, more than anything, play a more complete game of basketball to try and stop the bleeding and at least feel some semblance of momentum before the SEC Tournament arrives next month.
As for Vanderbilt, the 2025-2026 season has been a revelation under second-year head coach Mark Byington. The Commodores have been one of the surprise teams in the sport this year and are legitimately in the thick of the SEC race as we move into the back half of league play. At this point, with former OU guard Duke Miles helping lead the way, Vandy is all but a lock for the NCAA Tournament.
The matchup will be just the fifth all-time meeting between Oklahoma and Vanderbilt with the two programs having split the first four matchups. The game will be just the second time that the Sooners have visited the Commodores in Nashville. Last season, in Norman, OU picked up one of their most impressive wins of the season when they used an astounding 35-6 run across halftime to roll No. 24-ranked Vandy 97-67.
After facing Vanderbilt, Oklahoma will have their “bye week” in which they don’t have a midweek game – instead focusing on a home tilt next Saturday against Georgia back at the Lloyd Noble Center before going back on the road to face No. 25 Tennessee in Knoxville on Wednesday, February 18th.
