BATON ROUGE – With Lane Kiffin, the transfer portal window may never truly be closed.
More than a couple of weeks after the portal officially closed, LSU football has added another player, this time in junior college offensive lineman Adrian Lamb. He announced his decision via his Instagram page late Monday night.
Lamb held offers from South Carolina, Alabama and other SEC teams. He played last season at the Georgia Military Academy.
While the portal is closed, players who already had entered their name into the transfer portal can still decide where they are playing football next season.
This decision from Lamb likely came down to which offensive system he felt like he fit in with best. And Kiffin and his offensive philosophy has been a good churner of talent that plays at the next level as it is a pro style attack.
At LSU, Lamb will likely be offered time to develop before being asked to play substantial snaps and that could’ve played a factor into where he chose to play as well.
Lamb (6-5, 295) is another big-framed offensive lineman that the LSU staff has poached out of the transfer portal. In total, Kiffin and company have now brought in nine offensive lineman transfers including Lamb.
Because of that, Lamb’s path to the field right away in Baton Rouge will be a big hill for him to climb. According to 247Sports, Lamb is a three-star transfer recruit and there are a number of OLs rated above him in those rankings that are coming to LSU.
The NCAA transfer portal window closed Jan. 16. Players are no longer permitted to enter their name in the portal. However, those whose names were already in the transfer portal can still decide and sign with a new school after Jan. 16.
