For a portion of the 2026 class, Tennessee football commit Faizon Brandon held the No. 1 overall spot on 247. However, in the late stages, he dropped back to No. 2 behind Houston quarterback Keisean Henderson. Now, in 247’s final rankings for the class, he has fallen back to No. 3, with Vanderbilt quarterback Jared Curtis leaping him.
This is still well high enough for a five-star ranking, though. Brandon joins wide receiver TK Keys and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda as 247 five-stars signed to UT this cycle.
His position on 247, though it was a drop from his top spot, is still far higher than his positioning on Rivals, as well. That recruiting service has him as a four-star, the No. 40 player in the class, No. 5 quarterback and No. 4 player from North Carolina.
“Recruiting process started a long time ago,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said on ‘The Mike Keith Show’ after Brandon’s signing. “Saw the video of him as a young starter, got him on campus, having a camp day with him. His ability to throw the ball with power, with accuracy. His ability to have touch on the football when it’s time to do that. He’s got the athleticism to extend and make plays as a scrambler. He’s a scramble-to-throw guy first, but man, when he does tuck it, he’s got the ability to be a weapon and pick up massive yards with his feet.
“His ability in the run game to control edges, control pressures a huge part of it. He’s quick-minded. Processes things extremely quickly and then you take into account who he is, his maturity, how he interacts and engages with his teammates. That’s really important in that position that you’re fitting in culturally inside of our locker room and helping us grow into what we need to be. So couldn’t be more excited to have him and his family a part of Rocky Top.”
Tennessee’s class ranks as the No. 4 group in the cycle on 247 after the rankings refresh. This is good for No. 2 in the SEC, as well, only trailing Alabama. The top-five features USC, Alabama, Oregon, the Vols and then Ohio State.
