Because of a late switch, Vanderbilt beat Ole Miss men’s basketball on the Commodores’ home floor.
Ole Miss lost 71-68 at Vanderbilt (19-3, 6-3 SEC) on Jan. 31. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Oxford but was moved to Nashville because of a winter storm affecting northern Mississippi. The game is now the second of a four-game road trip for Ole Miss.
The Rebels (11-10, 3-5) struggled to contain Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner. The sophomore guard scored 24 points on 10-for-20 shooting.
AJ Storr and Malik Dia missed contested 3-point shot attempts in the final seconds for Ole Miss. Dia, who was facing the team he played for as a freshman, had 16 points, as did Storr.
Vanderbilt leads Ole Miss 31-23 at the half. Malik Dia leads the Rebels with six points, but Ole Miss has nine turnovers.
The Rebels trail 23-12 with 6:11 remaining in the first half. Vanderbilt has forced eight turnovers and committed just three.
Vanderbilt 84, Ole Miss 71: Ole Miss is strong defensively and may be able to keep the Commodores relatively in check, but offensively, the Rebels likely won’t have what it takes to keep up.
